Best Places to Go on a Date in Jamaica New York

Whether you are traveling on a solo trip or with your partner, Jamaica New York is the perfect place to find some of the best places to go on a date. The island has a lot to offer from restaurants with exquisite cuisines to museums and historic landmarks.

Located on Jamaica Avenue, the King Manor Museum is a great place to learn about Rufus and John King’s legacy of public service and anti-slavery work. You can also enjoy a tour of the property.

1. YS Falls

If you want to get a taste of the Jamaican countryside, then YS Falls is a must-see. Located in St Elizabeth Parish on the southern coast, this series of seven waterfalls cascade into pristine natural pools.

This nature-based attraction offers a family-friendly atmosphere and plenty of activities for visitors. Upon arrival, a tractor-pulled jitney transports you through the scenic rural landscape to the falls.

The cascades fall 118ft (36m) from top to bottom and are surrounded by lush jungle and cool pools. You can also enjoy a canopy zipline tour and tubing rides on the river.

2. King Manor Museum

King Manor Museum is a historical site that hosts a variety of educational events and activities. It was built in 1785 and is home to an impressive collection of family artifacts.

It’s a little more expensive than the other attractions in Jamaica, but it is a great place to visit on a date. You can take a guided tour of the historic house and learn about its history.

King Manor was the home of Rufus King, a Revolutionary War veteran and US ambassador to England. He also served as a New York State senator and as an anti-slavery advocate. He delivered two of the most radical speeches in the Senate before the Civil War.

3. Multiplex Cinemas

If you’re looking for a fun night out with the family, there is no better place to go than Multiplex Cinemas on Jamaica Avenue. It is a nice little neighborhood movie theater with several digital screens and stadium seating. They even have a Starpass reward program to boot. For those who want to keep the party going, they also have an impressive food and beverage menu. And if you’re a movie buff, they have you covered with a solid selection of blockbuster releases and classics from the golden age of film making. You can check out their website and give them a call to find out more.

4. 165th Street Pedestrian Mall

The 165th Street Pedestrian Mall is a bustling shopping destination in downtown Jamaica. It attracts a mixed crowd of local residents, professionals and students who come from other cities to frequent the over 160 stores.

Its unique location amidst historic art deco buildings and an old movie theater-turned-church makes it a must-visit for anyone in the area. It has a large variety of apparel, footwear destinations, eyewear stores and jewelry salons in addition to restaurants.

The property on 165th Street was originally opened as a Macy's in 1947 and redeveloped into the Jamaica Colosseum Mall in 1980s. It is now a retail complex with a jewelry exchange and parking garage.

5. The First Reformed Church of Jamaica

The First Reformed Church of Jamaica, which has been drawing worshipers to downtown Jamaica for 300 years, is hoping for a revival. Pastor Mark Kellar is reviving programs that reach youths and adults, including a basic computer course.

The congregation traces its roots to the Dutch settlement of the area around 1702, and an octagonal-shaped building was erected that year, close to Jamaica Avenue. A second church, a Georgian-style structure with a cupola and weathervane, was erected in 1833.

In 1857, a fire destroyed the church, and the consistory began work on a new building. The result is a fine example of Early Romanesque Revival in design and construction.

6. Rafting on the Martha Brae

If you want to enjoy the best rafting experience in Jamaica, you should visit the Martha Brae River. This destination is known to attract tourists from all over the world every year.

This 3-mile (4.8 km) journey will take you through a lush landscape of trees filled with colorful flowers and birds. You can also enjoy a tour through Miss Martha's herb garden where you will learn about Jamaican herbs famous for their medicinal properties.
