Whether you’re looking for something romantic, relaxing, or just plain fun, Savannah has plenty to offer. Hopefully, you’ll find the perfect date for your next visit!

One of the most popular romantic things to do in Savannah is a stroll through historic squares. It’s a great way to see all the beautiful historic buildings and architecture!

1. Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens

Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens is a historic public garden that’s just 15 miles from the city center of Savannah. Part of the University of Georgia, CGBG offers year-round educational classes and workshops for all ages and abilities, special events, and opportunities to connect with nature through their beautiful display gardens and collections.

The gardens feature 16 different garden and plant collections, ranging from hardy palms to Chinese pistachio trees to bearded irises and exotic camellias. A 50,000-gallon water garden also resides on the site.

2. Jesup Drive-In

One of the few drive-in theaters still open in Georgia, Jesup Drive-In is a must-visit. The theater has been running since 1948 and boasts two huge movie screens that show double-features nightly.

New owners, Ralph and Jamie Hickox have embraced the drive-in’s 1950s/60s theme while adding new services such as online only payments and food delivery. The theater also follows strict “social distancing” standards to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for its patrons.

3. Perry Lane Hotel

Located in the heart of Savannah’s historic district, Perry Lane Hotel is where worldly style meets Southern warmth. The property features three lively dining and imbibing offerings, plus an expansive art collection.

The hotel also curates a variety of activities for its guests, including architectural tours, studio classes with local artists, and rooftop yoga. The hotel even offers car valeting and concierge services to welcome visitors with old-world courtesy.

4. Leopold’s Ice Cream

Leopold’s Ice Cream has been in business since 1919, making it one of the oldest ice cream parlors in the world. Their old-fashioned family recipes have earned them a reputation for their super-premium homemade ice cream.

They keep things classic at Leopold’s, from their handcrafted family recipes to their timeless employee uniforms. The guys scooping your ice cream still wear paper soda jerk hats and white dress shirts, with a black necktie from TieMart.

5. Trustees Theater

Located on Broughton Street just around the corner from Lucas Theatre for the Arts, the Trustees Theater is the perfect place to see iconic movies and musical acts. It’s also home to the SCAD Savannah Film Festival.

A staple of the Savannah art and entertainment scene, this glimmering state-of-the-art historic landmark has been captivating moviegoers for over 70 years. It’s been home to SCAD’s spring FASH WKND runway show, performing arts productions and a myriad of concerts, lectures and events.

6. SCAD Museum of Art

Situated inside the SCAD campus, this museum in an 1853 antebellum railroad depot is one of the newest additions to Savannah's art scene. Wrapped in a $26 million renovation, it features restored Savannah gray brick, a glass atrium and an 86-foot steel and glass lantern.

This contemporary art museum features rotating exhibitions and commissioned works by a variety of artists, engaging visitors of all ages. It also serves as a teaching museum for SCAD students and the community.

7. Bar Julian

With panoramic views of the Savannah riverfront and skyline, Bar Julian is one of the tallest rooftop bars in town. This upscale rooftop drinkery at Thompson Savannah serves up hand-crafted cocktails and a Mediterranean menu to match.

Beverage Director Chelsea DeMark has curated a Mediterranean-inspired cocktail menu that highlights seasonal ingredients and local farms. You’ll also find a menu of small plates, snacks and pizza.

8. Top Deck Bar

Savannah’s budding culinary scene, rugged coastline and dark history have made the city a go-to for trendy rooftop bars. And with panoramic views spanning over the riverfront and skyline, it’s easy to see why.

One of the newest additions to the rooftop bar circuit is Top Deck, housed in the Thompson Hotel. It serves crafted cocktails and a Mediterranean menu with incredible views.

9. The Savannah History Museum

The Savannah History Museum is a must see for those wanting to learn about the city’s past. Its collection consists of 10,000 historic artifacts and is one of the largest on the coast.

Its exhibits focus on the town’s history from 1733 through the American Revolution and Civil War, to present day. Exhibits include a 1902 Crestmobile that predates the Ford Model A, an antique cotton gin and period women’s clothing.

10. Carriage Ride

There’s no better way to experience Savannah’s storied past than by taking a horse-drawn carriage. A few companies offer public tours as well as private ones for those interested in a more romantic setting.

Old Savannah Tours offers narrated 90-minute trolley tours. The company also has a river cruise option that starts on River Street.
