The silver curve of the Gateway Arch holding above a slow Mississippi barge, the green-domed Old Courthouse tucked between brick towers, and maple trees spilling rust and gold across the riverfront lawn. Being single past 50 in St. Louis usually comes with brick-bungalow roots, a Cardinals scorecard tucked away somewhere, and a job at BJC, Boeing, or one of the breweries. However you got here, the city makes meeting people feel unhurried.
This community is 50-plus only, no younger demographics to scroll past, no age slider to fiddle with, no one asking why you're on here. Just adults at the same point in life, talking like adults. Building a profile costs nothing and takes about as long as making coffee.
Members usually suggest Forest Park for a first walk, the Boathouse if rain looks possible, the Art Museum if it doesn't. Coffee in the Central West End covers the awkward first half-hour. Saturday morning at Soulard Farmers Market gives you something to talk about. The Hill works for a slower second meeting, and Old Webster or Kirkwood Station serve the suburb-side crowd well.
