The adobe pueblo at Taos rising in earthen tiers, blue-painted doors and ladders catching late winter sun, the snowy Sangre de Cristos behind, the place hasn't changed much in a thousand years. Singles past 50 in New Mexico mostly came for the air and the silence and a sky that goes pink for half an hour at sundown. However you arrived at this point (late divorce, decades on your own, a recent loss), there's a stillness here that helps.
Browsing and creating a profile costs nothing. Read other members, see who's nearby, take your time deciding. Sending a note takes an upgrade. That's a fair trade, and it's how the lights stay on. By the time you do pay, you'll already know if anyone here is worth the cost.
For a first walk, Albuquerque members favor Old Town's plaza or coffee on the Bosque Trail. The Sandia Peak Tramway is good for an evening date. Santa Fe regulars meet on the Plaza or stroll Canyon Road's galleries; Cross of the Martyrs gives you sunset and the foothills. Las Cruces couples often start in Mesilla; Taos has its plaza and the pueblo a short drive north. Drives between any two of these are part of the appeal.
